Some of that memorabilia will be on exhibit at UFO, complete with information and thoughts from Smith. “That was one of the things that I couldn’t even have dreamed of leaving behind in that store.” “I spent probably 40 hours just pulling staples and X-Acto knifing around the edges of things, but it was so worth it,” Jacque said. He offered Smith a job, a raise and a schedule much closer to 40 hours a week. Jacque has known Smith since he was a teen and the two worked together at the store for the last five years. Growing up on the city’s west side, Jacque spent his share of time at the Dousman Street record store that became an institution on the local music scene, thanks in no small part to manager Tom Smith, who worked there since 1988. Jacque hopes UFO will also help to fill the void left by last month’s closing of The Exclusive Company after nearly 37 years. ![]() Tom Smith, The Exclusive Company connections ![]()
